AnnualMeeting2015KathyThomson.croppedVentura Friends of the Library held our Annual Meeting on Sunday, March 22, in the Topping Room.  The theme of our annual meeting was “Tea and Transformations”.

We enjoyed an exhibit of sculpted, altered and deconstructed books transformed into works of art.

Two artists who work in this medium presented their creaAnnaulMeeting2015BookOrigamiJill.cropped.scaledtions.

We even tried our hands at making our own origami book.

In the business part of the meeting, we voted on some changes to our bylaws and standing rules.

We voted to change our fiscal year to conform to the calendar year — our fiscal year will now begin on January 1 and end on December 31 (a change from beginning on April 1 and ending on March 31)

We voted to “do business as”  “Ventura Friends of the Library”.  This is to avoid confusion  with Santa Barbara Friends of the Library (also possibly abbreviated as “SBFOL”).  So, in future, we will refer to ourselves as Ventura Friends of the Library  (VFOL) — we’re now working on filing the paperwork and updating our logo and correspondence materials.

The newly elected Executive Board:

President:                               Kathy Thomson

Vice President:                      Marianne Coffey

Treasurer:                               Gary Stephens

Recording Secretary:          Joanne Fields

Corresponding Secretary:  Jill Forman

Kathy, I am so proud of you for bringing SBFOL into the 21st century! The online edition of Ex Libris is wonderful. You have adapted SBFOL to the reality of the times, and I am so glad that you came forth to lead the Friends. Of course, I am proud also that I asked you to become our leader.

I am sorry that I have not even come to our annual meetings, but I am a full-time caregiver now, and daily events control my life.

    Thank you again, Will
