East Side Library to be Discussed at East Ventura Community Council Meeting

Jackie Griffin will attend  the East Ventura Community Council meeting to talk about the new east side library site at 1050 S. Hill Road.

Thursday, March 16,  7 p.m. at the First Assembly of God Church, 346 N. Kimball Road. All are welcome.

The site  at 1050 S. Hill Road, near the Ventura County Government Center, has been approved for a new library branch.  The space is just over 5,100 square feet. The county will pay just under $9,500 per month in rent, with 3 percent annual increases called for in the 10-year lease.  The county set aside $200,000 toward the branch for fiscal year 2016-17. Griffin said the ongoing funding will be enough for the library to be open 24 hours per week initially, with some weekend, after-school and morning hours.

The  Friends of the Library will be raising money to pay for the furnishings and other items for inside the library.  Donations can be made at https://squareup.com/store/VenturaFOL

Other items on the meeting’s agenda are city issues to be presented by City Council member Neal Andrews  and  public safety issues to be presented by Ashley Bautista, a civic engagement specialist with the Ventura Police Department.  Call group chair John McNally at 804-7558 for more information or visit the group’s Facebook page at http://tinyurl.com/zjrqjly.
