Be a Part of the Library Strategic Planning Process

Recently, City Council determined that it is time to launch a strategic planning process to explore, among other things, what Ventura wants in terms of library services, what is the best way to receive those optimal services, and what the community is willing to pay for them. On January 10th, City Council approved the release of a request for proposals for consultant services to conduct the Library Strategic Plan and Santiago Library Consultants (SLS) was selected for this project.  The Library Strategic Plan Steering Committee will oversee the planning process. This process began on April 13th with the first meeting of the Steering Committee in the Topping Room at EP Foster. All meetings are open to the public and meeting agendas will be posted on the City’s website, at City Hall and at the Library. The Steering Committee will meet once a month over the next 5 months to steward the process.
In early May a widespread community assessment process  will begin to outreach to the community.  This process will include a survey to determine community priorities with regards to the service roles the library serves. The survey will be available in English and Spanish in electronic and hard copy versions from May 8th -May 23rd.  To respond to the survey online, click here: Ventura Library Survey.

The key to the success of this project will be the wide and diverse participation of the community in this process. Friends of the Library members will be involved the process, both on the Strategic Plan Steering Committee and as participants in information gathering and distribution.
