April 18: April is National Poetry Month. Please join us in creating your own poetic works through the process of Blackout Poetry. Blackout Poetry is a type of “found poetry” where the artist selects words that catch their interest from magazines, books, or other printed text – along with a few additional words that help the poem flow. Then all unneeded remaining words are blocked out or “redacted”. This is usually (but not always) done with a black marker, therefore the name “blackout poetry”. The chosen words form a new message, which gives the text an entirely new meaning.
