“Chumash presence past and present, including the ecology of Mugu Lagoon and the Oxnard Plain”

The mitsqanaqan̓ (Ventureño) Chumash and their ancestors have lived in our region for over 15,000 years. This archaeology focused presentation covers their unique history and culture, and also considers their adaptations to the natural environment of the Santa Monica Mountains, the ocean, Mugu Lagoon, and the Oxnard Plain. We will also discuss Chumash activities in Ventura County today. Presenter: Colleen Delaney, Ph.D.
