The E.P. Foster Library in downtown Ventura is temporarily closed for renovation.
On the construction front, significant milestones have already been reached. Asbestos remediation was completed, a critical step that cleared the way for demolition, and HVAC ductwork installation is now officially underway.
Nancy Schram has reported that an important infrastructure milestone has been reached in August: new sewer lines have been installed to serve the library’s downstairs restrooms.
As with any excavation project, the work has followed proper Cultural Resource Management (CRM) protocols. A tribal monitor was on site throughout the digging process to help protect any cultural resources that might be encountered. No exciting finds were unearthed.
With this phase complete, renovation work continues to move forward.
