The October 9 Book Sale at the Wright Library location produced over $2,650 for the City’s public libraries. This was our last big outdoor sale of the year, so it’s time to acknowledge the efforts of some of the participants.
Our thanks go out first to the donors of the books, to Merle Oberg and the Warehouse crew who prepared them for sale, and to the patrons who bought them.
Once again, the student volunteers from Foothill Technology High School carried most of the load when the selling began. They greeted every customer, and they stayed with us until everything was reloaded on five trucks.
Kudos to the legion of volunteers who moved the books and staffed the sale: The sale did entail a staggering quantity of books on 54 tables, so special credit is due to our cadre of box-and-table wranglers. Truck drivers (or owners) for this sale were Don Belless, Will Thompson, Octavio Sifuentes, Dan Dugan, John Cole and Frank Toms.
Can’t list them all, but must recognize the outstanding work of Layout Coordinator Doug Singletary for setting up the site; Will Thompson, David Bayer and Bill Aulich for loading the large truck; Matt Hill, Keith Gorden, Ed Wohlenberg, John Crisp, all the truck drivers, the student brigade, Jan Douma, Thelma Piercy, Larry Kirkpatrick and many, many others for getting the books onto the tables and for loading everything out at the end. Sorry we don’t have space to the names of every volunteer!
Finally , we especially appreciate our cashiers/counters Lois Breyer, Barbara Swanson, Dottie Gragg and Phyllis Bzrozowski, who bagged up the proceeds.
