Book Sales at Hill Road Library

Ventura Friends of the Library has a designated space in Hill Road Library.   It is furnished with some comfy seating and a table where our membership brochures can be displayed. There are also shelves where books are offered for sale. Payment is accepted in receptacles on the honor system. Friends of the Library Board members Jill Forman and Ellen Klope are managing the sales there.

Among the book donations the Friends
are fortunate to
receive, quite a few
are unique.
They are older, sometimes
well over a hundred years old. Some are tattered and loved, some have names of owners long gone written inside.  Many have beautiful bindings and illustrations.   The difficulty is finding them the right home. We put them in our book sales in a “Vintage” section and hope someone comes along who will appreciate them. Now, however, we have a new venue for them. We tried putting a couple out on the Friends book sale shelves at Hill Road at very inexpensive prices, and they sold immediately. Hmmm….we put out more, same result. And again. The librarians even told us patrons come in looking for them! We are delighted to please appreciative booklovers, place our valued senior citizen books in new homes, and financially support library programs with the revenue at the same time.
