A California Native Plant Society Lecture by Stephen D. Davis, Distinguished Professor of Biology at Pepperdine University. His research with undergraduate students over the last several decades has revealed the remarkable resilience of chaparral shrub species to environmental stress such as drought, wildfire, and freezing. They have also identified the limits of survival with unprecedented drought events.
