A California Native Plant Society Lecture

There are many groups of California plants with close relatives that occur in the southern half of South America but are absent from the intervening tropics.  This is termed the American Amphitropical Disjunction.  Matt Guilliams, Plant Systematist and curator of Santa Barbara Botanic Garden’s Clifton Smith Herbarium, will shed light on how this pattern evolved.
