In March 2020 the World Health Organization declared the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) a pandemic. As SARS-Cov-2 spread globally policy analysts, public health officials, scholars, and others tracking the cases have debated and reflected on what have been the most and least effective policies enacted to prevent infection, reduce the number of deaths, and minimize human suffering.
Professor Jalil comes to us from CSU Channel Islands (CI) as part of the CI Library Lecture Series. She traces policy responses to the pandemic in five countries—Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Costa Rica and the United States—to draw some preliminary conclusions and reflect on how the COVID-19 pandemic has exposed deeper problems in each of the nations discussed. This event will take place Friday, March 26 at 6:00 pm via Zoom. Participants can register by visiting bit.ly/VCLjalil.
